FINAL RITES SET FOR M.C. MATHIS
Funeral
services will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at Ebeneeza cemetery for
Mallie C. Mathis who died suddenly at 4 a.m.
yesterday at the Corinth hospital. Bro. Arthur Davenport
and Bro. O.L. Butler will conduct services. Burial
will be in Ebeneeza cemetery.
Deceased
was 83 years of age at time of death.
His wife
was Amanda Rogers, who passed away in 1938.
He was a
prominent merchant and planter in the western section of Alcorn
county for many years.
He is
survived by four sons, Roy O. Mathis and R.F.
Mathis, Walnut; Pete B. Mathis and
Lex B. Mathis, Corinth; a daughter, Mrs. Letha
Clausel, Walnut. He had nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Bass Haig, Erst Rufus
Mathis, Mallie Joe Mathis, Bobby
Mathis, Aaron Layton, Hubert
Swindle, J.C. Swain, Jesse
Clausel.
Honorary
pallbearers are: W.C. Sweat, Sr., Ely

and Guy Dicus.
