LAST WILL
AND TESTAMENT OF MRS. L.C. IJAMS
(Lucretia Catherine Hurley Ijams)
I, Mrs. L.C. Ijams, of Corinth, Alcorn County,
Miss., being of sound and disposing mind and memory and more
than 21 years of age, do make, publish and declare, this my last
will and testament, hereby revoking any and all other wills and
codicils by me at any time heretofore made.
FIRST: It is my will that all of my just debts and funeral
expenses be first and fully paid by my executrix hereinafter
named, and as speedily after my death as is practicable.
SECOND: I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to my daughter
Benton Clay Ijams, for the period of her
natural life, all of my property, of which I die seized and
possessed, whether real personal or mixed, including my
homeplace, in Corinth, Miss., where I now life; and at the death
of my said daughter, Benton Clay Ijams, the
remainder in all of said property, real, personal, or mixed, I
give to my three grandchildren; Clayton Burgess,
Grace Burgess and Katherine Burgess,
share and share alike.
The fact that I have failed to provide for my daughter, Mrs.
Rebecca Elizabeth Farr, is not because I love
her any less, but, I give a life estate in all of my property to
my daughter, Benton Clay Ijams, because I
desire to provide a home for her as long as she shall live; and
I give the remainder to my said three grandchildren; Clayton,
Grace and Katherine Burgess, because, during
the lifetime of their father, Tom Burgess, he
was exceedingly kind to me and, when I was no longer able to
supplement my income, he assisted in taking care of and
providing for me; and, since his death, his children, my said
three grandchildren, have provided for and taken care of me.
FOURTH: I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my daughter,
Benton Clay Ijams, as Executrix, of this, my
last wil and testament, giving her full power, to do any and all
things in and about the winding up on my estate; and, having
full confidence in her honesty and integrity, I relieve her from
giving any bond, or from making any report, or account to any
court, and from making any appraisement or inventory of my
estate, except that she shall file and probate this will.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto signed, published and
declared this my last will and testament in the presence of Mrs.
Alta Crowell and Miss Mary E. Zachary,
whom I have requested to become attesting witneses hereto, this
22nd day of March, 1934.
Mrs. L.C. Ijams, Testatrix.
