Viry Robertson passed away on August 3, 1964 at Holiday
Park Hospital in Portland, Oregon after an extended illness. She was born
December 7, 1892 in Louisville, Mississippi, the daughter of William B. Pettus
Miles and Francis Elizabeth (Stevenson) Miles. She married George
R. Robertson and was married in Louisville on November 23, 1911. She
lived her entire life within a few miles of her hometown of Louisville until
1946, at age 54, they moved to Vernonia, Oregon to be closer to their
children. She spent most of her time with her flower garden and as an
active member of The Assembly of God Church, across the street from her
home. She and her husband George celebrated their Golden Wedding
Anniversary in Vernonia in 1961.
Services will be held Tuesday August 4, 1964 at
Vernonia. Concluding services and burial will be at the family plot at
the Memorial Park cemetery in Louisville, Mississippi
She is survived by her husband George; nine children;
Albert Cleveland, Elliot Vernon (Lige) and Raymond Glenn, Robertson, all of
Vernonia; James Paul Robertson of Castle Rock, Washington and Shirley 0neal
Robertson of Medford, Oregon; Mrs. W. T. (Virgie) Pugh, Lake Grove, Oregon;
Mrs. Charles (Esther) Ruth, Longview; Washington; Mrs. George (Tharis) King,
Corvallis, Oregon; Mrs. Don (Mary) 0'Connor, Lake Oswego, Oregon; Mrs. Larry
(Virginia) McMahon, Longview; Washington and 16 grandchildren.
Also, surviving are four brothers; Emmit, James, Marion
and Clint Miles; and one sister Calley Ree (Miles) Palmer, all of Louisville,
Mississippi.
