Research Notes

Peter Crawford at his death owned 1400 acres in Winston and adjoining Choctaw Counties.  The 1850 census indicates that he owned 38 slaves.  In his will, he referred to his holdings as "my plantation".

Transcribed from Volume #6 of the Winston County Probate Records 1853-1855 starting on page 508 by LeFloris Lyon.  Please note that some of the names of the people were difficult to read in the original document.  Please consult the original  records to verify any part of this transcription.

Please note that the symbol "DO" was used to indicate "ditto" in the inventory of the sale.
