Vertical Files Inventory

The vertical files at the Pike-Amite-Walthall County Library contain materials donated by family members over a number of years. In general, the types of items one might find are loose papers, pedigree charts, newspaper clippings, etc. - items that are not suitable for shelving. Also contained in many files are family histories compiled by descendants which may not have been widely published - if at all.

Also contained in the vertical files are the Family Research files donated to the library by Doris Varnado Green, who left her entire genealogy collection to the library. Family Research files include info on the following families: Albritton, Amacker, Andrews, Applewhite, Athern, Averill-Avery, Bagget, Barrow, Bickham, Carter, Caswell, Chase, Clark, Day, Denman, Dixon-Dickson, Dowling, Ellzey, Erwin, Fisher, Ford, Fortenberry, Goodrich, Green, Griffin, Hardy, Harp, Hart, Hollingsworth, Hurlong, Hutto, Johnson, Leavelle, Lee, Lewis, Loe, McGrew, Mizell, Morgan, Newsom, Pope, Reeves, Richardson, Ricks, Roberts, Sanders, Sandifer, Schilling, Shaffer, Sibley, Smithwick, Stiball, Torrence, Varnado, Wilson, Young.
