RESEARCH TIPS

Keep in mind that prior to 1870 Union County did not even exist.  It was created
in 1870 from parts of Tippah County (to the North), Pontotoc County (to the South)
and a portion of Lee County (to the Southeast).  For example: If you are searching
for someone who lived in Northern Union County during the 1870's, you may have
to look through Tippah County records for any information prior to 1870.
To use this website in your research you must begin with a name.  First, go to
the "Master Index" and see if the individual appears on the list (The Master Index
ONLY COVERS the "Completed Listings" area).  If you find a name you would like
more information on, go to the "Completed Listings" area and look through each of
the individual cemetery indexes until you find the appropiate cemetery. You might
also want to check the "Partial Listing" area for any additional information.
Unfortunately, the "Partial Listing" area has not yet been indexed, so you will have
to look through those cemeteries one at a time. And don't forget to look through
the "Civil War Veteran Headstones" area, there are several listings there that
appear nowhere else in this site.
I realize that this site needs a better indexing system for faster searching,
but I simply haven't had the time to do it yet.  If you are looking for information
about someone whose name doesn't appear at this site e-mail the name to me
and I'll check through some other material I have, and see what I can find .
