The
Snowdown School was located on the
Iuka and Free Bridge Road 3 ¼ miles
east of Iuka, Mississippi. As far
back as any record of the school is
available, it dates from 1870. The
first teacher was Mr. Bill Blythe.
Mr.
Blythe was followed by the following
teachers: Bill Ramsey, Wesley Cain,
W. M. Hunley, Millie Thacker, Mattie
Deardoff, Sallie Castleberry, Horace
Long, Fayette Massey, Bob Wood,
George Vaughn, Fayette Massey
(second term), Lucian Dean, Leatha
Moore, Jess Bennett, Willard Mosley,
Blanche Patterson, Dosha Whitehurst,
Willard Mosley, Ella Gardner,
Willard Mosley (second term),
Christine Haines, Mrs. Letha

The
Snowdown Public School and the Clear
Creek Public School were
consolidated July 27, 1922, and
located on the old Ham Road, 4 miles
east of Iuka. The first trustees
were J. L. Haines, C. R. Daniel, and
R. L. McKinney. The first teachers
were E. Laws Long and Lorene
Jenkins. Mr. Long and Miss Jenkins
were followed by the following
teachers: 1923-24, Avie L. Lomenick
and Clara Wingo; 1924-25, Hector
Bishop, Ollie Scott, and Edith
Nagle; 1925-26, Avie L. Lomenick, A.
B. Adams, and Ollie Waters; 1926-27,
