Highland was at one time an inland post office with Mr. Paden as
postmaster. He also operated a tavern as this was on the Iuka
and Fulton stage coach route. Highland was merely a stop for the
change of mail, passengers and horses. In earlier days one store
and a few homes comprised the village. The old families were:
Blounts, Gardners, Padens, Ransom, Davis, Dillis and McRaes.
Highland Baptist Church, on of the older churches in the county,
was known for the annual all day harp singings in August.
