Abstract of Probate Letter of Administration for D.M.B. Reid, May 1862, Book Q, page 347. Tishomingo County.

 

E. W. Carmack, administrator of D.M.B. Reid, deceased.

Petition for Letter of Administration before the Court, “that the said decedent late a citizen of this County recently died in the State of Ohio, being at the time of his death a prisoner of war, as a Captain of Company A in the 26th Mississippi Regiment of the Army of the Confederate States of America.” The widow, (not named) relinquished her rights to administer the estate in favor of E.W. Carmack. Standing bond were W.W Bonds, and B.C. Rives. The court ordered the administrator to give notice of his appointment for six weeks in the newspaper of the state so that creditors may be notified. The Court further ordered an appraisal of the deceased’s goods and chattels, after first setting apart support for the widow and child in an amount sufficient for one year.

 

Note:

 

D. M. B Reid died of pneumonia on 15 April 1862 while a prisoner of war at Camp Chase. He was captured at Ft. Donelson. He was buried in the Camp Chase cemetery on the same day in Row 41, Number 60, Grave 2073. Camp Chase Cemetery, 2900 Sullivant Avenue, Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.
