gg-grandparents were Hector Davis (1842-1925) & Lucy Milam Davis (1846-
1927). Hector and Lucy Davis had the following children born from
1868-1890: Anna Reed, John H. Davis, Sam Davis, Alice "Sis" Wilson, Zack
Davis, Ed Davis, Louise Hill, Frances Edwards, Alick Davis, and Tom
Davis. Hector's parents were former slaves named Jack & Flora Davis,
both originally from S.C. and former slaves of the Burnett Family of
Tate/Panola County. Lucy's parents were Wade & Peggy Milam. Hector
Davis had several siblings: Jack Davis, Jr., Sampson Davis, and Mariah
Davis Roland Hill. There probably
were more. Lucy's siblings included: Hence Milam, Will Milam, Margaret
Milam, Spence Milam, Alice Davis, Cole Milam, Fannie Milam, Tucker Milam,

believe him to be my gg-grandfather. The spelling of his first name
changes to Louis in the 1870 Census. All of these Census reports he is
listed on are for the part of DeSoto Co. that became Tate Co. after 1870.
His wife is a Susann or Susannah Clark born in Tn. Their children were
Nancy , William A., Mary J., and James L. Clark. James was my great-
grandfather. William A. Clark was married to a Harriet Conner and is
buried in Brooks Chapel Cemetery. I think William may have had daughters
by the name of Eunice and Daisy. He had two step-daughters by the name
Conner. Are there any descendents of any of these Clarks still in the
area?
