Aug 12, 1881 MR. THOMAS DUNCAN
No more distressing event has occurred for years than the drowning of this young gentleman in the St. John's River, Florida. He was the son of our old friend, WM DUNCAN, of Coldwater, and a gallant, generous and handsome fellow. The pride of his parents and an ornament to the community in which he resided. His sudden death has cast a gloom overall. He was a clerk on a steamboat plying in the St. John's River, and while out in a skiff he was overturned and drowned. We tender our heartfelt sympathy to his stricken parents and to the town and community that has been stripped of one of its most promising young men.
