To Commander of the 19th Mississippi Regiment
Sir,
I have announced and recomended Sergt. L.R. Burress, Company K, 19th Mississippi Regiment as Drill Master, Rank of Lieutenant in Camp of Instruction, and respectfully ask that he be detailed in consequence of promotion, and ordered to report here for duty immediately.
The war Department appoints only such as are recomended, and I desire to give preference, to those who have experience in Military discipline. His commission will ne doubt be here on his arrival.
I cannot often get Lieutenants in service, as they have a command.
