Death of J. H. CHENNAULTA shock to wide acquaintance was announcement of the death of Mr. J.H. CHENNAULT, which occurred at the home of his son-in-law, Dr. J. S. DONALDSON, at Algoma, last Saturday evening at 6 oclock. Mr. CHENNAULT had been ill for several days, but his death was quite sudden and unexpected, he having pitched forward in the chair in which he was seated and died in quite a short time from heart failure. Mr. CHENNAULT was a native of Alabama, but came to Mississippi in early manhood and served in the War between the States from Chickasaw county, having sacrificed a leg to the lost cause. He has been a resident of Pontotoc County for a number of years, having been a good citizen and successful farmer in the Springhill neighbor till two years ago, when he removed to New Albany. Recently, however, he returned to Pontotoc county and purchased a small farm near Algoma, where, with his usual jovial disposition and happy good nature he intended to spend the balance of his days in quiet and contentment. Mr. CHENNAULT was a consistent member of the Baptist church and an active Mason. He was buried Sunday afternoon with Masonic honors in the cemetery at his old home, Springhill, his former pastor, Rev. W. A. MAYO. conducting the religious service. The deceased is survived by a widow and five children, to whom we extend sympathy in their bereavement. submitted by;
