OLD POPLAR SPRINGS CEMETERY
This is an abandoned cemetery located in the northeast corner of Pontotoc County near the Union County line. Many of the stones are broken and eroded. It is heavily overgrown with brush and trees.
Directions:Start at junction of Hwy. 6, 9 & 41. [1]Go north on Hwy. 9 (6.9 mi.) to CR 854 (Center Hill Rd.) turn left.[2] Go (1.6 mi.) to CR 19 (Lessel Rd.) turn right.[3] Go (.5 mi.) to CR 4 (Subertown Rd.) turn right.[4] Go (.6 mi.) to "Y" intersection of CR 12 (Barton Rd.) & CR 4 bear right. Changes to gravel road just before"Y".[5] Go (.5 mi.) cemetery is to left on vague road.[6] Walk (1/8 to 1/4 mi.) Not presently accessible by auto (deep ruts). A chain link fence is around cemetery. Note: Other roads in area are CR 11 (Tuscumbia Rd.), CR 17 (Hamblin Rd.), CR 39 (Bethel Rd.), CR 10(Coonewah Rd.)
