Old Monroe Mission Cemetery
In 1968, John Wilson (pastor of Monroe Presbyterian Church) compiled a history of both Monroe Presbyterian Church and the Old Monroe Cemetery. In 2008, Harold Hodges of Algoma, MS edited and updated his work and re-issued the book. As part of the editing he re-platted the cemetery and verified the information. This is his chronological listing of burials through August, 2008. A copy of his revised version can be purchased from the old Post Office Museum in Pontotoc, if anyone would like to review the information. We feel confident that many children and some adults have been buried here at Old Monroe, and no record being kept, that their graves have been lost. We are anxious to complete this record and it would be greatly appreciated, if you know the name of anyone buried here, please get in touch with Harold Hodges, P. O. Box 114, Algoma, MS 38820.
