Wade and Shelton Family Bible Records
Thank you for allowing me to submit my Lee, Pontotoc
and Union County Mississippi family history. The following four
families lived, died, and married, in these three counties.

My Mother was: Mary Emma Wade b. 10-3-1891.

Her parents were George Griffin Wade m. Martha Ann Knowles.

Her grandparents were: Henderson Wade m. Rebecca Shelton and
John Knowles m. Betty Putman
- Henderson Wade, b. 1768 VA m. 1795 Mecklenburg Co., VA to
Elizabeth Wilburn. They moved to Edgefield Dist. SC 1810 and he
died there in 1831.

January 27, 1852 Henderson Wade II and Rebecca Jane Shelton are
married in Pontotoc Co., Miss. Her brother, Doctor Greenlee
Shelton and Margaret S. Strait had a double wedding.
They are the children of Thomas Shelton, Jr. and Mary Tarver
Shelton from Duplin Co., NC.

JOHN FRANKLIN KNOWLES (son of Samuel from Nottingham, England. He
and his two wives are buried side by side in Camp Creek Cemetery.
His first wife, Elizabeth died and he married Mary Ann Hardin.
They belonged to the Church at Camp Creek for 42 years. (It is on
her tombstone) Orval Knowles – Blue Mt. Miss has written a book
about, Sam from Nottingham.
John Franklin Knowles 1854- 1924 married Sarah Elizabeth (Bettie)
Putman 1858-1933 In Guntown, Miss.
