Benjamin TONEY is in the 1870 Pike Co census with wife Mariah and children. Where is this family in 1880? Probably the son of Charles TONEY of Washington Parish, Benjamin was in Smith in 1860 with first wife Emily JONES, and married his second wife Mariah ALLEN in Rankin in 1863. Mariah is listed in the household of Isom JONES in 1860. Is she the daughter of Isom's wife Lucy by a previous marriage? Many of his children lived in Washington Parish when grown; one daughter married in West Feliciana. Have been told that Benjamin was buried in Jones Co. Cannot find any record of Benjamin or Mariah after the 1870 census. Would like to know about any TONEY orphans in 1880.

I am in search of information on Solomon Obed MAGEE. He was born in Pike County, Mississippi on November 3, 1816 and died there on April 27, 1881. I think both of his parents were born in South Carolina, maybe Chesterfield County. Solomon was married twice, first to Mary J. "Polly" Ellzey and later to Eliza Ginn. At the time of his death, he was known to have had two surviving children, a son and a daughter. His daughter was Mary J. &quotMolly" MAGEE, and his son may have been named William MAGEE, I am not sure about that. He had at least two other children who died young. Molly married John A. WALKER and they had at least one child. I am not sure he lived to reach adulthood. His name was Jeff Davis WALKER. Any information on S. O. MAGEE or his family, would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for information on a Jeremiah Walker associated with Shiloh Baptist Church in the area of &quotTopisaw"/Pike County, Mississippi. I realize that &quotShiloh" was a popular name for churches, but Jeremiah was associated with one in 1826 in Mississippi. The 1826 minutes of the Mississippi Baptist Association mentioned a Brother Jeremiah Walker as a representative of Shiloh Baptist Church. I am trying to make the connection to my line of Walkers. My great-great-grandfather was Thomas Jefferson Walker. He was the son of Jeremiah Walker and may have originated in Mississippi. Jeremiah's parents could have been John Walker and Sarah Gates who moved to Mississippi from Georgia. John and Sarah are supposed to be in my line. Any information to connect T. J. Walker, Jeremiah and John will help. Connections should look like this: 1) John Walker (b: 1785 in Virginia) m. in Georgia, Sarah Gates (b: 1790 in Georgia); 2) Jeremiah Walker (son of John and Sarah Walker, b: in Georgia); 3) Thomas Jefferson Walker, (son of Jeremiah Walker, b: in Mississippi d: in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana) m: February 27, 1841 Frances Whittington (b: December 09, 1818 ; d. St. Landry Parish, Louisiana); 2)William Walker (son of John and Sarah Walker).

William Wilson DIES supposedly left Tennessee "at a young age" and went to Mississippi, to Pike County, and later to Amite County. He left Smith Co, TN sometime before the 1850 census. Somewhere between Smith Co, Tennessee and Pike Co or Amite Co, Mississippi he married a lady with the surname LONGMIRE or LONGMIER. Is there anyone out there who knows of a newspaper item, marriage record, or any kind of record telling of this marriage? In 1847 William Wilson DIES supposedly left Mississippi for Tennessee for the settling of his father's estate, and never arrived. He may have been killed by the Indians??? Does anyone know of a newspaper source that might tell of an incident that led to his death??? Or a newspaper obit or cemetery record? In short, I need advice on how to learn of the marriage before 1850 of William Wilson DIES and __?__ LONGMIRE or LONGMIER. Also need a source for information concerning William Wilson DIES' death in 1847 in Mississippi or Tennessee. William Wilson DIES married (2nd) on 31 Dec 1839 to Rachel TAYLOR of Amite County. Would like contact with anyone with knowledge of Rachel TAYLOR and/or her family.

Charles Thaddeus later moved to Bookhaven with his family which included his wife, Sarah McLelland, and son Thomas Hugh Montgomery Sr.. From what I have been able to research (his father) Hugh Montgomery had a brother, William, who married Sarena Albritton. Hugh settled in Amite County about 1790 and died there in 1846 - just prior to the birth of Charles Thaddeus. His widow, Martha, then married a Clarke and they moved over to Lincoln County.
