Notes: According to the death certificate for Martha Stuart Woodfin, her
parents were James Davidson and Martha Stuart. Thomas Edward Woodfin, grandson
of Martha Stuart Davidson and Charles Nuton Woodfin, stated in a letter
to Mamie Elizabeth Thomas Ross, that the Davidson family moved to Noxubee
County from Pickens County, Alabama when Martha was a ôlittle girl.
Mr. Woodfin also wrote that Martha had a sister
named Rose who married William Bird or Bill as he was called. He and Grandfather,
Charles Woodfin, were in the Civil War. After they came back from the War,
Bill Bird and his wife, Rose, did not live very long. They left three small
children, two girls and a boy. Grandma took one of the girls, Mollie, and
Major Nunn of Shuqualak reared the other two, Nellie and Kaylet or that
is the name I knew him by. Mollie married a Farrar. She was the grandmother
of the present Sheriff of Noxubee County.
