To the Hon. Reuben Ruff Judge of Probates of the County of Noxubee & State of Mississippi

Your petitioner shows that William F. Tubb deceased late of this county, departed this life in said county of Noxubee, where he last resided, sometime in February A. D. 1850 without leaving any last will & testament, so far as your petitioner has been informed or believes; and unmarried and without leaving any wife or children; that he left the following brothers & sisters, to wit: Rebecca Williams widow of Jacob Williams Decd. Lydia Moore, wife of Alexander Moore, all of whom hereunto reside in the State of Arkansas. Mary Petty, widow of Alford Petty. Jane Nunn, wife of John Nunn. Elisha F. Tubb. Susan Tubb & David A. Tubb, all of whom reside in said county of Noxubee. Sarah Moore, wife of William Moore, and Lucinda Cole, wife of Thomas G. Cole, all of whom reside in the State of Alabama: and Elizabeth Williams wife of Job M. Williams, and Isabella Ikard, wife of Milton Ikard, all of who reside in the State of Louisiana: also the children of his deceased brother Richard Tubb who died in the county of Perry & State of Alabama, the ages of whom are unknown to your petitioner. That said decedent left at the time of his death, a small personal estate consisting of a horse & wagg, cattle & debts due him, & amounting to not more than twelve hundred dollars, that your petitioner is the brother of said decedent, and resides in this county; that he believes it important, necessary & proper, for the interest of all concerned, that said estate be administered upon forthwith; he therefore prays that letters of administration upon said estate be granted him upon said estate, upon his taking the oath and giving bond & good & sufficient security according to law.

Your petitioner would suggest as appraisers Caleb Reed, George L. Haynes & James Burrage.

Know all men by these presents that we George W. Tubb & Elisha F. Tubb all of the county and State aforesaid are hereby held and firmly bound unto Reuben Ruff, Jedge of Probates of said County, and his successors in office, in the penal sum of twenty four hundred dollars which payment well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals, and dated this fifth day of August A. D. 1851.

The condition of the above obligation is such that of the said George W. Tubb, administrator of the goods, chattles and credits of William F. Tubb, deceased, do make a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods, chattles, and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of the said administrator or in the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him; and the same do made, do exhibit unto the Probate Court of said County when he shall be thereunto required by the said court, and such goods, chattles, and credits, as well and truly administer according to laws and further do make a just and true account of his actings and doings where thereunto required by the said court and also the rest of said goods, chattles, and credits which shall be found remaining upon the account of the said administrator the same being first duly examined and allowed by the said court, shall deliver and pay unto such persons respectively as here entitled to the same by law, and if it shall hereafter appear that any last will and testament was made by the deceased, and this same being proven in court, and the executors obtain letters testamentary, and the said George W. Tubb doin such case being required, render and deliver up his letters of Administration, then the above obligation to be void; otherwise to remain in full force and virtue

To all to whom these presents shall come – Greeting.
Know ye, that William F. Tubb, deceased, late of the county of Noxubee, departed this life intestate having at the time of his death, divers goods, chattles and credits, within the said State, as we are informed in our orphans court of the county, aforesaid: we therefore desiring that the said goods, chattles and credits, may be well and truly administered and disposed of according to law, do grant unto George W. Tubb full power by the tenor of these presents to administer all and singular the goods, chattles, and credits, which were of the said William F. Tubb, at the time of his death hereby authorizing and requiring him the said Administrator to demand and recover the same by all legal means; to pay all the debts for which the deceased was bound at the time of his death so far as the said effects will extend, and the law charge; The administrator to make a true and perfect Inventory of all the said goods, chattles, and credits, and return the same to our Said Orphans Court; and also a just and true account of his actings and doings herein, when thereunto required by the Said court; and in general, to do and perform all such acts and things as pertain to the office and trust of Administrator, according to law.

This is to authorize you jointly to appraise the goods, chattles, and personal estate of William F. Tubb, late of said county, deceased, so far as the same shall come to your sight and knowledge each of you first having taken the oath hereunto annexed, a certificate whereof you are to return ___ to ___ inventory of the said goods, and chattles, and personal estate you appraised in dollars and cents; and in the said inventory, you are to set down in a column or columns, opposite [sic] to each article, the value thereof.
Witness, Reuben Ruff, Judge of the Probates Court of the County of Noxubee, this the 5 day of August 1851.

Personally appeared before me John F. Denton, one of the acting Justices of the Peace, in and for said County, the above named Caleb Reed, George L. Haynes & James Burrage who made oath in due form of law, that they will well and truly, without partiality or prejudice value and appraise the goods, chattles and personal estate of William F. Tubb deceased, so far as the same shall come to their sight and knowledge, and that they will in all respects perform their duty as appraisers the best of their kill and judgment.

We, the undersigned appraisers, do certify, that the sheet hereunto annexed contains our appraisement of all the goods, chattles, and personal estate of William F. Tubb deceased, so far as the same have come to our sight and knowledge, amounting to Five Hundred and one dollars, made agreeable to the above warrant of appraisement, and oath. Given under our hands and seals, this fifth day of September 1851.

To the Honorable Reuben Ruff of the Probate Court of Noxubee County in the State of Mississippi The undersigned administrator & C. of the estate of William F. Tubb herein reports that by virtue of the order of this court made at the last September Term thereof directing & authorizing a sale of the personal property of said Deceaseds estate returned into this court the inventory of appraisement after having given due notice by posting at the late residence of said deceased in this county between the hours prescribed by law proceed to sell the said personally estate to the highest bidder on a credit of six months from the day of sale and did them there so expose for sale at public outcry the said personal estate in lots or parcels to suit purchasers until the same was fully concluded for a full account of which sale with the names of purchasers and the highest amount bid for the same your Administrator refers to the accounts of sales hereto attached & filed marked A. and prayed to be made a part of this report Said account of sales amounting in the aggregate to the sum one hundred seventy five & 25/100 Dollars That said sale was fairly conducted & made and due notice thereof was given And be therefore prays that the same be received & compounds all of which is respectfully submitted
