" JAMES SYNG MANLY, the 2nd husband of Mary Julia Kent Rose (Manly),, both are buried at Duck Hill. He is wearing a Medal for his service during the Civil War awarded by the Daughters of the War for Southern Independence. It was considered the equivalent to the Medal of Honor as we know it today."
