This index includes Will books A through 13 of the Madison County, MS General Index to Wills, which was transcribed from LDS microfilm #0879843. Every effort was made to insure accuracy, and to include information as it was written in the original index.
The information in this index includes the name of the person who wrote the will, cause number, will book and page number. No dates were included in the index. We will try in the near future to find out the dates that the individual will books cover and include that information when available on this page. We have cross referenced female names that include obvious surnames, possibly those of former married or maiden names. Hopefully this might give you clues to finding some of those missing families.
As we've been told by other researchers who have visited the courthouse in Canton, many of the wills are no longer available. They have been either destroyed, or have been stored where they are not accessible to the public. The address for ordering records from the Chancery Clerk:
Chancery Clerk of Madison County
P. O. Box 404
Canton, MS 39046
If you find one of your ancestors listed in this index, and have a website with additional information on that family, please notify us so that we may put a link to your website.
This will index was transcribed and compiled by Tony & Sue Skay Abruscato.
