Chickasaw County Deeds

Selah Delashmet (Mary Ann) to Raleigh Hightower - 1855
 

This indenture made this the first day of November A.D. 1855 between
Sealah Delashmet and Mary Ann, his wife of the first part and Raleigh
Hightower of the second part all of the County of Chickasaw and State of
Mississippi witnesseths:
 

That the party fo the first part for and in consideration of the sum of
One hundred and fifty ($150.00) dollars to them in had paid by the party
of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have this
day bargained and sold and do hereby grant alien and covey to the part
of the second part a certainl tract or parcel of land situated in the
County and State aforesaid viz the Northwest Quarter of Section thirty
four (34) in Township Fifteen (15) of Range four (4) East of the Basis
Meridian Chickasaw survey containing in all ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY ACRES
more or less to have and to hold the lsaid land with the appurtenances
thereunto belonging unto the party of the second part his heirs and
assignes.
 

And the part of the first part do covenant and agree with the party of
the second part that they will warrant and forever defend the title
thereunto free from and against the right title or claim of themselves
as either of them and their heirs and of any and all persons whomsoever.
In testimony whereof the party fo the first part have hereunto set their
names and affixed their seals on the day and date first aforesaid.

The State of Mississippi
Chickasaw County
I, N.C. Wright, an acting Justice of the Peace in and for the county
aforesaid, certify that the within and foregoing deed was produced
before me and Sealey Delashmet personally appeared and acknowledged that
he on the day of its date did sign seal and deliver the same as his won
proper act and deed and there upon also on this day, Mary Ann, wife of
the said Sealey Delashmet personally appeared and having been by me
examined touching the execution of said deed (privily) and apart from
her said husband. She declared that contents and without any fear,
threat or coercion of her said husband did sign, seal and deliver the
same on the day of its date as her own proper cat and did for the
purposes therein expursed.
                Given under my hand and seal this the 1st day of November A.D. 1855.

JB. F Pulliam, Clerk of the probate xourt of said county do certify that
the within and foregoing deed was this day filed in my office for record
and that the sum has been only recofded in second book of deeds on page
366.
 

Given under my hand and the seal of said Court at Office in Houstin the
3rd day of May, AD. 1836.
