Glenda McWhirter Todd:
According to the records of the George Stanford Cemetery,
John Kirk Byrd is buried there and while he is indeed buried
there, I think his tombstone is covered up with dirt from
where a farmer plowed the land right adjacent the cemetery
and a little over on it. The tomestone they have him listed
for is actually the "wife of John Kirk Byrd" and
has her birth date and death date. I can understand why
they did that because the "wife of" is almost
illegible on the stone. The following is the information
for both of them and you can see it's her dates on the stone
rather than his. Even if you can add a notation to this
effect I would appreciate it. I noticed this when I was
down there and Dr. Evans had the same thing in the book
he wrote, I believe. Thanks.
