SHIPLEY CEMETERY - Saltillo, Lee Co., MS
The Shipley Cemetery is a small family cemetery located at the end of a dead-end street in the Natchez Trace Villas subdivision (which is near the Tupelo Headquarters for the Natchez Trace Parkway). Primarily, the Raines, Hill, and Dunaway families are buried here. It went unused for many years. The concrete markers were handmade by Dump Raines with names written by his wife, Ruby. Those do not list any dates. Over the years many graves have been lost.
Recording is from left to right and begins in the southwest corner of the fenced cemetery.
Directions: From Hwy. 145 north of the Natchez Trace Parkway exit, turn left (west) on the Birmingham Ridge Road. Go 1.2 miles and turn left on Little Harpe Trail, then go 1/10th of a mile and turn left on Village Trail. It is a short street (2/10ths of a mile) which looks like a driveway and dead-ends at the cemetery.
GPS Coordinates are: N34 20.796 W088 43.055.
