Served in Company F, 7th MS Infantry during most of the war. The Company was known as Marion's Men and was mustered into service at Columbia, MS August 10, 1861. Mustered into the CSA October 6, 1861 at Camp Clark, Bay Saint Louis, MS and became part of the 3rd Brigade, Army of MS under the command of General C. D. Dahlgren with hedquarters at Shieldsboro, MS.
October 11, 1863-sent to LaGrange, GA hospital.
November 11, 1863-granted 40 days furlough because of chronic diarrhea that had brought about extreme emaciation. |

Private of Company G, 7th MS Infantry known as Goode's Rifles of Lawrence County under the command of Captain E. J. Goode. The Regiment was organized September 25, 1861 and in December of that year was stationed at Bay Saint Louis, MS. It then started for Tennessee but was recalled at Corinth, MS and assigned under General A. S. Johnston to the Brigade of General J. R. Chalmers. The Regiment, under Lt. Colonel H. Mayson, participated in the Battle of Shiloh.
