John Hugh Bufkin & Anne Sims 'Annie' Holder

JOHN HUGH BUFKIN (son of John T. Bufkin & Ulanah Lightsey) was born 19 Oct 1820 in Perry Co, MS. (or Horry Co. S.C.) d. 11 Apr 1899. Hugh married ANNE SIMS HOLDER (daughter of Willis Langston Holder & Elizabeth Sims) Anne (or nickname Annie) born 16 June 1817 Jasper Co. MS. died 16 Jan 1906 Jasper County, MS.

Anne & Hugh are both buried at Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery in Stringer, Jasper, MS. The headstones of Hugh Bufkin and Anne Holder are the oldest we found at Liberty and most interesting. Hugh Bufkin was in the 12th MS. Cavalry along with his son RANSOM FRANK BUFKIN during the Civil War.

    Martha & Thomas Ruffin's children: 1 Sarah Ann b. 1858 2. Mary Jane 16 May 1860 3. William Hugh RUFFIN 12 Aug 1862. Martha & Benjamin Grantham's children: Mary 1864; Wm. 1865; John 1867 & Elizabeth GRANTHAM 1869.
