Thu Jun 12 07:50:30 1997 - EVANS, David Augustus; Jessee U.; William B. These men lived in
Lauderdale County, AL when their father, Jessee Evans, died in
1824. It appears that they moved to MS after their father died;
possible to Tishomingo or Itawamba Counties, although no hard
evidence has been found of this. My great-grandfather, David Augustus
Evans, Jr., was born in MS 16 Mar 1838. His father died 23 Dec
1838, presumably in MS, since it was only a few months after the
birth of his son. D.A., Sr. was married to Elizabeth "Betsy"
Bearden; their oldest surviving child was son William B. Evans.
Jessee U. Evans was D.A. Sr.'s brother, possibly older. The probate
of their father's estate said the brothers claimed title to all
of Jessee's land, "free and clear." I AM TRYING TO LOCATE
D.A. SR.'S FAMILY IN MS AT THE TIME OF D.A. JR.'S BIRTH AND AFTERWARDS
UNTIL BETSY MOVED THE FAMILY TO TN. |

LONG, KELLY |

Tue Apr 22 15:07:33 1997 - I now have information to the fact that my great-grandmother,
who married Jeremiah Kelly in December of 1859, was the daughter
of Daniel and Catherine Long. Their family was listed in the 1860
Pontotoc County, MS Census. I was informed that the following
persons were buried at the Palmetta Methodist Church Cemetery:
Daniel Long, Catherine Long (W),children-Daniel, Margaret,Hannah.
My great grandmother was Emma Catharine Long. I have no idea when
she died, or where she was buried. The cemetery records of Palmetta,
Pontotoc Cty, sated that a Capt. W. B. Long, born May 23, 1832-died
May 18 1904, and a Mary C. Long, b. May 25, 1836, died 17 July
1910. I do not know if they are related to Daniel and Catherine
Long or not. I would like very much to find the gravesites of

CLARK, SCOTT |
Anita Sue Clark- Martin |
Mon Apr 7 19:45:11 1997 - I'm searching for the family of Thomas David Clark (abt 1835-1861).
He lived in Itawamba County, MS and Marion Co., AL a good portion
of that time. His father died prior to 1850 and his mother (Martha
1814) can be found living in Ita.Cty. in the 1850 census married
to a Ruben Scott with several Clark children living with them:
William (1832 AL), Thomas David (1835 MS), Jefferson (1838 MS),
Jeremiah (1840 MS) and Martha (1842). There were two other boys,
John (1846)and James(1848)who were listed as Clarks in 1850 but
as Scotts in 1860. We also know that Thomas David had a Uncle
James Madison Clark who lived in Marion County,AL and Tishomingo,MS.
Thomas David's Grandparents reportedly lived in Buzzard Roost,TN,
and at an early age because of a disagreement with their stepfather
Thomas and Jeremiah left their mother's home headed for their
grandfather's. We have no reason to believe they ever reached
their destination. Anyone with any information about any of these
individuals please contact me. |
