James William Gassaway II

James William Gassaway II was born in Union District, South Carolina on 2 February 1826. He was the son of James William and Sarah Massey Gassaway. On 10 August 1853 he married Mary Elizabeth Cooper, daughter of Jonathan and Mary Cooper. James William and Mary Gassaway lived in the Fawn Grove community of Itawamba after moving to Itawamba County at an early date from Monroe County. James William died on 30 July 1917 and was buried in the old Comer Cemetery south of Fawn Grove.
