This is a picture of my great-grandfather's, Lonnie Hopkins Bean (Beene) (son of Wiley Hopkins Bean) family,
that, oral history says, was made on his 50th birthday in February, 1913,in Itawamba County near Mantachie.

Beene (later married Frank Roberts). All, except Lonnie were born in Itawamba County. Lonnie was born in Coosa, Alabama, the son
of Wiley Hopkins Bean and Julia Gantt.
My mother, Carrie Eulane Beene, went to school in Mantachie and married David Bryant Griggs in Itawamba County in 1927. He was
born in Philcampbell, Alabama. Vernon and all of his family moved to Arkansas in 1929. Later, Marvin, John Allen and Odie also moved to Arkansas.
My older sister, Betty Joe Griggs Snell, was born in Itawamba Co. in 1928 and the rest of us were born in St. Francis Co, AR,
near Hughes. All of the Bean (Beene) daughters, except Effie Lou, married and raised their families in Itawamba County. Many of
their offspring still live in the area.
