My great grandmother; Frances Missouri HARDIN/HARDING was supposedly born Feb 13, 1860 in Eupora, Mississippi. Her parents were listed in subsequent census records by her, as being born in Al. However we have never been able to find out her parents names. She is suppose to have a sister Lizzie and a sister Ann. In about 1877 she married Willis Nathaniel WOFFORD who was from Choctaw Co. Ms. They had my grandmother in Attala Co. Ms. in Aug. 1878. I have not been able to find her in census records with any parents in 1860 or 1870. By 1880 she is living with W.N. Wofford. Does anyone have a Lizzie or Ann Hardin/Harding born Alabama, Miss. around the 1855-1865 time frame, give or take? I know Francis Missouri Hardin/Harding md a John Flether CARROLL in Ms. after Mr. Wofford died. Had 3or 4 more children, moved to Texas and died here in 1930. However she left no death certificate to trace parentage. Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheryl Higgins Tue Feb 18 10:37:21 1997 I am looking for information that may confirm/elaborate a family story about an antescendant named Charles HIGGINS - one of seven sons of a "well-off Mississippi family". According to this tale, six of these sons rought on the side of the Confederates during the civil war, and the seventh fought on the side of the Union. This seventh son was supposedly disowned, and some family decendants today reportedly still refer to the "six sons of the family Higgins from (Jackson?) Mississippi" when asking about a Higgins' background. We always respond that we are decended from the seventh brother Higgins. Charles Higgins was perhaps a captain in the Union army, may have been quite a drinker, and is supposed to have joined up with Kit Carson after the war setting up saloons in Kansas. He married one of Cary Nation's girls, and we think not much came of this marriage, at least in the way of children, as she is buried in Utah, and he is buried in Illinois. Any info?

Alison Barnes Thur Apr 24 22:00:00 1997 I am seeking information the BARNES and SMITH families in Mayersville and also information on Mary McClain from Lake Village, Ark. who married John ADAMS.

SWTesh Tues Sept 16 14:44:28 1997 My G-G-Grandfather, Samuel LEIST owned Mound View Plantation is Issaquena County, MS, where the Little Sumflower River and the Yazoo River meet at the edge of the Delta National Forest. I have his passport (Swiss) where his father Jacques LEIST and moter Marie REBER along with many siblings immigrated to this country in 1846. I am fortunate enough to have pictures of him and his plandation, but do not know any information regarding siblings, Jacques, Jr., Marie, Elizabeth, Catherine. I do not know anything of his father Jacques or mother Marie or how they ended up in Mississippi. As many other people, I am intensely interested in knowing as much about my father's family as possible. For anyone interested I do have a complete family tree of Samuel LEIST and all the children he had, which were many. I am new to this pursuit, so I don't know what to do next.
