Will of Gracy Porter 1854

November Term 1855
In the name of God Amen I Gracy Porter*of the County of Hinds and State of Mississippi being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertanty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make and ordain establish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament,  that is to say First after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged,  the residue of my estate, real and personal I give bequeath and dispose of as follows.
To Wit:  To the heirs of my son Edward Turner Porter five dollars, to my daughter Sarah Jane Ragland five dollars.
I give bequeath and devise all the rest residue, and remainder of my personal and real estate to my children by my first husband To wit:  John Smith Lawsons' heirs one forth, To Isaac Lawson one fourth, To William H. Lawson one fourth and to Marian D. Stovall one fourth.
Likewise I make constitute and appoint my said sons Isaac Lawson and William H. Lawson to be executors of  this my last will and testament  hereby revoking all other former wills by me made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the the twenty third day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four.

The above written instrument was subscribed by the said Gracy Porter in our presence and acknowledged by her to each of us and she at the same time published and declared the above instrument so subscribed to be her last will and testament and we as the testators request and in her presence have signed our names as witnesses hereto and opposite our names our respective places and residences.

                       The State of Mississippi  Hinds County
In the Probate Court of said County November term 1855
Personally apeared in open court Richard D Drone, Geo. W. Gibbstwo of the subscribing witnesses to the [word unreadable] [The other subscribing witness having departed this life since the subscribing said Will] instrument of writing supporting to be the last Will & Testament of Gracy Porter died bearing date the 23rd day of June A.D. 1854 who being duly sworn.
 
*Note:
Gracy Porter having been born in Va. in 1792 by her tombstone and 1794 by her statement on Hinds County Census in 1850 was the first wife of My GGG Grandfather, James L. Lawson from Va... Her given name at birth was: Louisa Anastacia Porter.
