Department of History and Archives for this web page. The list curently
includes 1822, 1823, 1824, and 1825, the first four years Hinds was a county.
Other years will be extracted and added in the near future.
Many of the
names appear to have been entered by sound by the tax collector with different
spellings applied the following years. This is obviously an imperfect list
and there are likely errors.
A question
mark indicates doubt about the surname.The names are compiled together
in table. An X under the year indicates that the name appeared on the tax
list for that year.
