If you are interested in a genealogical society that encompasses the Louisiana parishes and Mississippi counties along and near the Mississippi River from the northern boundary of Louisiana's Florida Parishes (Louisiana-Mississippi line) to the Louisiana-Arkansas line and beyond, the Vicksburg Genealogical Society (VGS) is for you. We hold monthly meetings between September and May and offer informative programs. Our quarterly journal, Mississippi River Routes, is included with your membership. Each issue features original documented material, including family history, record inventories, church, public, organizational, or corporate records, Bible records, cemetery inventories, letters, diaries, ledgers, and queries, to name a few. We are continually recruiting new members and seeking new material for Mississippi River Routes a quarterly journal. Ms counties include:
Adams, Amite, Claiborne, Franklin, Hinds, Humphreys, Issaquena, Jefferson, Lincoln, Pike, Sharkey, Warren, Washington, Wilkinson, and Yazoo.  Back issues available.

The VGS, established in 1982 and incorporated in 1986 in the State of Mississippi, is a non-profit entity. Membership in the Society is open to everyone. Annual dues, which are $20.00/ individual or $23.00/ couple and cover the period June through May
