Noble Woman Laid to Rest.
Last Sunday after noon, the train from Jackson brought all that was mortal of Mrs. Annie L. Harper, accompanied by loved ones and friends from Jackson, who were joined at the depot by practically everybody in and about Raymond, among the number being many colored people, and followed the remains of this good woman to her last resting place
in the cemetery. The funeral was conducted by Rev. W.A. Terry, pastor of the deceased while in Raymond, assisted by Rev. S.G. Pope, pastor of the Baptist Church here. A feeling service was held, great quantities of lovely flowers were spread on the grave covering it entirely, while sad hearts, torn with grief, looked on with tear-bedimmed,
eyes and all present mourned the loss of one so much loved. This noble woman was the widow of the late George W. Harper, and with him shared the love and esteem of the people of hinds county and the State of Mississippi, for whom they had done so much.George W. Harper and his wife, who as Miss Anna L. Sims, were married in 1852,
and who resided in Raymond, where Mr. Harper was the editor of the Raymond Gazette to the times of his death several years ago.
