THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI - HINDS COUNTY - BOND - June 17th 1836
Know all men by these presents, that we James McCann and John B. Hawkins of said County are held and formally bound unto Charles Lynch Governor of the State of Mississippi aforesaid or his successor in office in the sum of two hundred Dollars, lawful money of said State, to which payment with and being to be made to the said Governor for the term brings or his successor in office.
Our heirs, executors and administrators with bond of us and our heirs jointly and singularly firmly by these presents affix our hands with our seals and dated this 17th day of June one thousand Eight hundred and thirty six.
The condition of their obligation is such that whereas the marriage is Shortly intended to be celebrated, return of the above bond. James McCann and Elitha Hendley now aforesaid in no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then this obligation to be void.
Otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.Signed Sealed and delivered in presents of
