Edward Stevens Farish was born Caroline co., Virginia 17 Februsary 1791.
Edward died 28 September 1860 in Jackson, Hinds county, Mississippi, at 69
years of age. His body was interred in Jackson, Hinds county, Mississippi,
Greenwood cemetery.He married Sarah GOODE Hopkinsville, christrian co., KY, 23 April 1813.
Sarah was born 4 August 1797 in North Carolina. Sarah died 23 October 1851
in Jackson, Hinds county, Mississippi, at 54 years of age. At 35 years of
age Sarah became the mother of Joseph Goode Farish in Alabama, 21 June
1833.At 42 years of age Edward became the father of Joseph Goode Farish in
Alabama, 21 June 1833. Edward and his brother Robert migrated from
Caroline county, Virginia to Madison county in what is now Alabama in about 1808. At that time it was the Mississippi territory. The expectation was to obtain land and settle there when the Territory gained statehood. Edward received the contract for carpentry of the first state mansion building in Jackson. There are others who make the claim. During the construction there was a fever epidemic and Edward loaned his home to the city to be used for the sick. The city later honored his family by naming the street by his home Farish" street."
