Powers Family Cemetery

Located in R6W, T3S, Sec. 27. In the 1980s it was described as being on the property line between the Massey and Harrison place. Additional information added by Tim Harrison.




John A. Powers – 7 Aug 1854 – 11 Nov 1873.  Son of S. C. & M. J. Powers.
Born in DeSoto County, son of Stephen C. Powers (1832 – 1876) and Margaret J. Stevens (1836 – bet. 1906 – 1910) who married March 9, 1853.  He is listed in the 1860 (p. 107) and 1870 (p. 159) DeSoto Census records.  His siblings were: Henry J. (1856), Sally A. (1858), Thomas (1860), Laura (1867), Lenar (1869), Otho C. (1871), Chalmers (1875).  They are listed in the 1880 (p. 375) and 1900 (p. 1) DeSoto Census records.  Stephen C. Powers was a Confederate soldier, serving in Co. C, 42nd Mississippi Infantry, and was wounded on May 5, 1864 in The Wilderness.
