J. Connally – 1863 – 1907.
John M. Connally was born in Madison County, Alabama, the son of George William Connally and Martha M. Brown.  He married Lizzie W. Merritt on August 8, 1886 in DeSoto County.  They are listed in the 1900 Shelby Co., TN census (p. 129).  Lizzie was born in October 1861 in North Carolina.  Their children: Brooks (Dec. 1889, MS) and Gerture (Jan. 1895, TN).

Martha M. Connally – 1845 – 1895.  Age 50 years.  Wife of G. W. Connally.
Born Martha M. Brown in Madison County, Alabama, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Brown (1860 Madison Co. Census, page 42).  She married George William Connally (b. abt. 1841 in AL) about 1863 in Madison County.  George was a Confederate soldier, serving in Co. F, 4th Alabama Cavalry.  Martha had one child: John M. Connally (see above).  The family is listed in the 1870 (p. 223) and 1880 (p. 217) Madison County, Alabama Census records.  After Martha’s death, George remarried on April 11, 1896 to Annie Ingram and father two children: Willie (f) (1897) and Jennie (1901).
