Coleman Cemetery

Ann Hawes Coleman – Jan. 1791 – 18 Sept. 1852. Wife of William Harris Coleman.
Born Ann Hawes, daughter of Richard Hawes and Clara Walker, in Albemarle County, Virginia. Married William Harris Coleman, her second cousin, on May 30, 1811 in Virginia. The family was in Desoto County by 1841. She was the mother of fourteen children: Hawes Harris (1812, VA), Richard Hawes (1814, KY), Clara Walker (1816, KY), Oscar (1818, KY), William Pitt (see below), Edwin (1821, KY), Aylett (1822, KY), Ann Hawes (1823, KY), Mary Byrd (1825, KY), Susan Taylor (1827, KY), Waller Lewis (1830, TN), John Albert (1831, TN), Eugene Bearhornais (1833, TN), and Samuel Hawes (1835, TN). She is listed in the 1850 DeSoto Census (p. 399) with two children: Richard and Albert.
William Harris Coleman – 10 Jan 1787 – Mar 1842. Born in Nelson Co., VA.
Son of Hawes Coleman and Nancy Ann Harris. His father was a Revolutionary War veteran. A William H. Coleman was a veteran of the War of 1812 from Virginia. He married his second cousin, Ann Hawes (see above) in 1811. He was the father of fourteen children (see above).
William Pitt Coleman – 18 Oct 1819 – 1841. Son of, & 5th child of: Ann Haws and William H. Coleman. Killed in a duel.
