Carpenter Cemetery

 

 

Carpenter Cemetery is located on and adjacent to Hurricane Road, in northwest Copiah County, just west of Carpenter, Mississippi and south of Utica, Mississippi. A sign identifying the cemetery states that it was “donated in memory of Joe and Grady Price.”

 

DIRECTIONS: (1) From Natchez Area: Take US 61 to Port Gibson; turn right on MS 18 for 20 miles to Carpenter, Mississippi; turn left on Carpenter Road (note: Dentville Road is to the right) and continue 9/10 mile to intersection with Reedtown Road, where Old Carpenter was located; at this point, Carpenter Road becomes Hurricane Road; continue straight on Hurricane Road for another 7/10 mile. The cemetery is located on the right, adjacent to Hurricane. (2) From Jackson Area: Take MS 18 to Utica; continuing approximately seven miles to Carpenter, Mississippi; turn right on Carpenter Road (note: Dentville Road is to the left)and follow directions in # 1 above. (3) From Vicksburg Area: Take MS 27 to Utica, Mississippi; continue on MS 18 (toward Port Gibson) approximately seven miles to Carpenter, Mississippi; turn right on Carpenter Road (note: Dentville Road is to the left); follow directions in # 1 above.

 

In some instances, a wife's grave stone has the maiden name and a citation that she is the wife of "X". Where such occurs, two entries have been made, one with the maiden name and the other with the married name. This is a listing of grave markers: in some situations, the name of the surviving spouse has been entered; therefore no death date has been entered.
