Thomas Moore bought, in a deed dated 07 Mar 1867, from Moses J.Ferguson for $1,000 dollars,a lot of
land in the town of Beauregard, Copiah Co., MS. The land was described as a portion of lot number Six in block number eleven thirty feet fronting and on the west side of the Rail Road Avenue and running fifty feet
west of the said front, known as Dr. Ferguson's Drug Store. |

Thomas had lived in Claiborne Co., MS, near Hermanville, where he is listed in census data from 1830-1860, and
where in 1850 and 60, he is described as a planter of good circumstance according to the real and personal property data. All of Thomas' fifteen children were born in Claiborne County, MS. In 1866, Thomas
began to buy land in and around Beaureguard, Copiah Co., MS. Much of this land was placed in his then five year old son Gabriel's name instead of in his own. In 1872, Thomas, wife Lydia, son Gabriel and
daughter, Rozella Moore Graves and her family, all moved to Panola Co., MS, where Thomas died in 1875 leaving a will.Lydia Thetford was the daughter of Gabriel Thetford and Elizabeth Wells or Wills. She married
Thomas Moore in 1845 in Copiah Co., MS as his third wife. She was then 19 and Thomas was 54. Gabriel was the last child of nine and born to Thomas and Lydia Thetford Moore in 1861. He was later a Mason
and a merchant in Batesville, Panola Co., MS. |
