Mississippi Soldiers Buried in Union Cemetery

Leesburg, VA

Flag

Mr. Steven Mitchell posted the following message on the Mississippi in the Civil War Message Board:

"Further to my postings on the MS Soldier's Final Resting Place in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA, I have assembled the roster and hospital records of those 131 fallen Mississippian soldiers who are known to be interred in a mass grave at this cemetery. Regrettably, there are many unknown MS soldiers buried here that cannot be identified.

This work is the effort of two honorable individuals, David M. Frantum and Clifford E. Henry, authors of "No Sound Can Awake Them To Glory Again". They have given their permission to use their work in our efforts to memorialize these fallen soldiers with the appropriate headstones or mounument.

The list that I have compiled is extracted from their work and will be used in our memorial efforts. I will gladly make this document available to any interested party that can assist us in our efforts, or simply need it in their research efforts. As it is an EXCEL document, it cannot be posted on this site. If interested, let us know and we will email direct to you.
Thank you.
R/Steven "

I requested a copy of the Excel file and told Steven I would be glad to put it on The Tippah County Confederate. Steven sent me the file and gave me permission to post it. I appreciate having it here and also appreciate Steven's effort to mark the graves of these men who died in the service of the south.
