Soldier: William Bodiford
Unit: 10th Ms. Infan. or Co. C, Moreland's Cav. Batt.
Name: Carl W. Bodiford
Email address: jefe656@charter.net

Notes: I am looking for a Confederate ancestor. Confederate records on microfilm show a William Bodiford in Co. C of Moreland's Cav. Batt. His wife applied for a pension in 1900 and indicated this same unit info. Here is my problem. Condederate grave records show a William Bodiford buried in Tishomingo Co. MS. in 1872. But this Wm. Bodiford is shown on the grave marker as having served in the 10th Ms. Infan. There are no grave records that show a Wm. Bodiford who had served in Moreland's Cav. I have postulated that the gravestone that registers the 10th Infan. is mistaken? What is your opinion? Any suggestions? --------------------------------------------------

Notes: Ephraim Stone(my great Grandfather) listed himself as a Confederate Army Vet, on the 1910 Chester Co., TN, Census. He was born in northern Mississippi circa 1935, according to Census records found to date. He married in 1875 at Prentiss Co., Ms, to Malinda Ricketts. To our knowledge, there was no previous marriage(but possible considering his age of 40 at the 1875 marriage), and he cannot be found on any of the state Census' before his appearance in the 1880 Decatur Co., Tn Census. His death occured sometime between 1910 and 1920, and the place of which, still aludes us. We'd love to hear from anyone that might have information on this soilder. .
