This roster of the 10th Mississippi Infantry comes mainly from the
Soldiers and Sailors system with biographical data
added. There was an "Old" and a "New" 10th Mississippi Infantry. The
following list is of the New 10th. The main company of
interest is Co. K, Beauregard Relief which was raised in Tippah County,
MS. This company appears to have been recruited from
Co. D 1st Battalion Mississippi Infanty since about 23 members of this
company are in Co. K of the 10th. A good many of these
men were from around the Cotton Plant area and several are buried in
Ebenezer Cemetery there. I have listed each man in all the
companies in which he was said to have served so you will find many men
listed multiple times. As with all lists from the
Soldiers and Sailors system, many men are listed multiple times due to
spelling and handwriting problems. They don't attempt
to identify a soldier spelled differently or where they are listed by
name one time and initials another as the same man. I have
attempted to consolidate them when it is clear they are the same man.
Many are still listed more than once, especially ones
where the initials are slightly different. This appears to be a
handwriting problem. Since I don't know which is correct I leave
them. I would suggest using this list as a guide only and that you get
your soldiers Compiled Service Record as proof of his
service and of his name. I attempted to find all of the men in Co. K in
the Tippah County cemetery list to get biographical information for
him. It is always possible there were two men of the same name or
initials and this information is incorrect.
If you find errors or have additional information please contact me
with it and I will update the list. The footnote [1] indicates
this man was also in Co. D 1st Btn. Mississippi Infantry. History of the 10th Miss. Inf. -- from Dunbar
Rowland’s "Military History of Mississippi, 1803-1898 If you have comments or suggestions or wish to contribute something,
please email me.
