Estate of Thomas A. FONTAINE
June 1st A.D. 1846, Cha's W. Moody, Clk.
The State of Mississippi, Clarke County: Be it remembered that a regular term of the Hon. the Probate Court of said County may began and held in and for said county at the Court House thereof in the Town of Quitman on the first Monday of June being the 1st day of said month A.D. 1846. Present the Hon. Alexander McLendon, Judge of Probate in and for said County. James Lee, Sheriff and Cha's W. Moody, Clerk.
(2) this day appeared in open court Sarah Fontaine and Thomas K. Carter. The said Sarah widow of Thamas A. Fountaine dec'd. and petitioned the court for letters of administration on the Estate of Thomas A. Fountain late of Clarke County, dec'd. and it appearing satisfacorily to the court here that they are entitled to the said aministration by law, and the said Sarah Fontaine (sic) and Thomas K. Carter filed their bond in the sum of fourteen hundred dollars for the faithful performance of said administration with Jas. Risher Jr., Hezekial Risher and William Covington security which bond was approved by the court and Sarah Fontaine and Thomas K. Carter appeared and took the oath requi4ed by law as such adminstratrix and aministrator. It is therefore ordred by this court that letters of administration issue to the said Sarah Fontaine and Thomas K. Carter accordiing to law.
Ordred by the Court that Amos McLemore, William Covington and John Atkinson be appointed appraisers of all and singular the goods, chattels and personal estate of Thomas A. Fontaine, dec'd.

Ordered by the Court that the account of Drs. Jno. H. Ogburn and Jno. M. White be allowed against the Estate of Thomas A. Fontaine for the sum of 440.75 for medical service rendered.
Ordred by the Court that the warrant issued the 1st day of May A.D. 1846 supplying the place of T.A. Fountaine and William Elliott appraisers of the Estate of John Crosby Sr. dec'd. with Robert Collins and John Johnston be this day confirmed by this court.
This day appeared in open court Sarah Fontaine and petitioned the court for letters of guardianship to John, George, Martha, Caroline J., Eliza, James Allen, Sarah Elizabeth and Louisa Fontaine minor heirs of Thomas A. Fontaine late of Clark Countuy dec'd., and filed her bond with William Covington, James Risher and Hezekiah Risher security thereto wihich said bond was approved by the court and the said Sarah Fontaine appeared in open court and taken the oath as such guardian. It is therefore ordered by the court that letters of guardianship issured to said Sarah Fountaine as required.
Ordered by the Court that the inventory of the appraisement of the Estate of Thomas A. Fountaine dec'd be received and ordered to be recorded.
This day appeared in open court Thomas K. Carter administrator of the Estate of Thomas A. Fountaine dec'd and filed an account of the sales of the personal Estate of said dec'd wihich was received, examined and ordered to record.
Ordered by the court that the account of Wm. J. Carter against the Estate of Thomas A. Fontaine dec'd for $10.00 be allowed against said estate.

(354-355) Division of the Estate of Thomas A. Fountaine by Thomas K. Carter, administrator. The sum of $1847.83 1/4 is to be divided between 10 heirs, viz: John Fountain, George Fountain,Caroline Jane Fountain, Eliza Fountain, James A. Fountain, Sarah E. Fountain, Louisa Fountain, Mary A. Carter & Sarah Fountain, widow. Each is to receive $183.78. 2nd day of March 1850. Commissiners: A.G. Horn, J. Horn & John Johnson. Nathaniel Shotts, J.P. Alex. McLendon, Judge.
