Seeking info re : HARRIS
family in Natchez area in 1830's - 1860's, with roots in VA. Specifically
interested in William and Elizabeth HARRIS, listed separately in MS 1830
& 1840 census. My great grandmother was Hypagia (Hypatia) HARRIS
who was 18 when she married my grandfather Daniel
WHELPLEY in Natchez in 1846.
They were in California by 1850. We have family photos of Martha
and Minnie Harris taken in Shreveport, LA (date unknown). Family
history is that the Harris family lived on a plantation along the Mississippi
River. Hypagia is believed to have been born in VA
about 1828. Appreciate any
info about any Harrises in MS or LA.

BULLOCK/BEGGS - Benjamin
BULLOCK patented land on Second Creek in Adams Co. in 1789. In the 1792
Spanish census of Natchez, he was under 50 years of age, had a wife of
the same age, and they had a son under 15. Benjamin died in 1797 after
receiving a 300-acre Spanish land grant about 14 miles from Natchez on
Sandy Creek, a branch of the Homochitto River. Caleb BEGGS/BIGGS and his
wife Elizabeth were legal representatives for his estate, and it is possible
that Elizabeth was his remarried widow. Any information on the BULLOCK/BEGGS

I was reading the prominent

men have been included on this list. Two of my relatives had county
offices in the late 1880's. On the 1886 Natchez census, they were
listed with these jobs. Both of these men were classified as mulatto.
Louis WINSTON was the Deputy Circuit Clerk, and Robert WILLIAMSON was the
Assisitant Deputy Circuit Clerk. I actually have seen wedding licenses
with there signatures on them. Would not their names be listed on

I hope to connect with a
descendant(s) of Jonathan Houston DAVIS b.1853 Lawrence Co, MO. He,
his wife, L F, and six yr old son, were in Adams Co, MS, in 1890.
Jonathan worked for the Natchez Banner Newspaper. Alyson Crippen
recently contacted me about a letter he wrote home to his father,
Elder Wm Riley DAVIS, of
Lawrence Co, MO. She has partially answered my longtime question
as to what became of Jonathan, the youngest child of the family, and brother
to my Emmaline. Did Jonathan and family stay in Mississippi?
Where did their descendants go? Any info would be greatly
appreciated, and I have
a lot of DAVIS genealogy to share.
